• 56th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

  • Champion of economic growth across the Free World

  • Author of Sunday Times Bestselling Book: "Ten Years to Save the West"

Liz Truss served as the 56th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, making history as the first to be educated at a state comprehensive school. She is a strong advocate for limited government, low taxes, and personal freedom, both in the UK and globally. As the Conservative MP for South West Norfolk since 2010, Liz has held key ministerial roles for over a decade.

A Decade in Government

Liz’s Cabinet career included several significant positions. She served as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Secretary of State for International Trade, and Foreign Secretary. She also held the role of Minister for Women and Equalities, making impactful contributions in each position.

Leading Post-Brexit Trade

After the UK decided to leave the European Union, Liz Truss was appointed Secretary of State for International Trade. In this role, she re-established the UK’s independent tariff regime after more than 40 years. She secured key trade agreements with nations like Japan, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Liz also initiated trade talks with the US and led the UK’s application to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Championing Equality

As Minister for Women and Equalities, Liz stood firmly against identity politics. She halted plans for gender self-identification without medical checks, promoting a Conservative vision of equality based on freedom, choice, opportunity, and individual dignity.

Global Leadership at the Foreign Office

In September 2021, Liz was appointed Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs. She played a vital role in promoting Global Britain. Liz secured the release of British national Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe from Iranian imprisonment after nearly six years. She also introduced legislation to address the Northern Ireland Protocol, helping to shape post-Brexit relations with the European Union.

Confronting Global Threats

At the Foreign Office, Liz Truss led efforts to create a global network of liberty, uniting nations to challenge authoritarian regimes. She confronted China’s threats to national security, taking a strong stance on Hong Kong and Taiwan. After a direct meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, she imposed unprecedented sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine. Liz labeled Putin’s regime an “international pariah,” and ensured the UK was the first European country to send weapons to support Ukraine.

Leadership of the Conservative Party

Following Boris Johnson’s resignation in July 2022, Liz entered the race to lead the Conservative Party. She won with strong support from both party members and MPs. As Prime Minister, Liz introduced an ambitious plan to stimulate economic growth and end stagnation.

A Challenging Tenure as Prime Minister

Liz’s term as Prime Minister was marked by significant challenges. Just days after taking office, the nation mourned the death of Queen Elizabeth II, with King Charles III ascending to the throne. Despite decisive actions to support households and businesses with energy costs and boost the UK’s energy resilience, Liz faced strong opposition to her economic plans. Recognizing the challenges, she ultimately stepped down as Prime Minister.

Continuing Service in Parliament

Today, Liz Truss continues to serve as a Member of Parliament. She draws on her extensive experience in government to influence both national and international politics, remaining an active and influential figure in the UK’s political landscape.
